I talk about a lot – here’s where it comes from. If you want to know the kinds of projects I’ve managed, check out the Representative Projects section at the bottom.

IT Project Management Consultant, Schneider Logistics (100% Remote)

Dates of Service: July 2022 – Present
My assignment at Schneider involves the migration of multiple marketing technology systems into a single MarTech stack that enables the marketing team to hit their annual targets. The methodology is a mix of SCRUM Agile (working with external vendors) and SAFe (working with internal teams at Schneider).

Besides traditional Project Management duties, my role encompasses part-time Product Owner (coach), Scrum Master, Business/Solution Analyst (helping fill in the gaps where needed), and vendor management.

Sr. Project Manager, Full Tilt Marketing (100% Remote)

Dates of Service: April 2021 – July 2022
My role at Full Tilt Marketing was a jump back into agency life with a focus on actually doing the work for clients. With the exception of graphic design, all managers at FullTilt are expected to act as project managers and account managers and be able to complete any task required for their account including, but not limited to, any/all required copywriting; social media management; newsletters; press release creation & release to PR newswire; event planning & execution; videography & photography; website development; oversight/reporting; and strategy.

What I loved about this role:

Besides traveling 30,000 miles a year and all the perks that comes with that? I had to learn how to be a better marketing professional EVERY DAY.

Project Management Consultant, Harley-Davidson

Dates of Service: Aug 2019 – March 2021
The PM role at Harley-Davidson is a role that uses both an Agile and a PMP approach to managing projects within the Data Analytics department. Agile in execution and PMP in overall management, stage gates, budgeting, reporting and delivery. The role is one of the many that supports the More Roads initiative (more bikers enjoying Harley-Davidson motorcycles on more roads) within Harley Davidson.

What I loved about this role.

  • It’s my first step into true consulting. I’ve been assigned a project and a deliverable with the responsibility to work with a team to get it done by a deadline. I have to call on my experience and ability to work well with others to get it done.
  • Exposure to a group that leverages Agile but leans more towards following PMP practices. Selfishly, I’m excited because I’ve always found it hard to study for the PMP when I didn’t have any ability to directly apply it. At Harley-Davidson they use PMX (“X” – H-D’s flavor of PMP that intertwines with their corporate change management processes, accountability and planning).
  • This is truly the role where I need to earn my keep… every. single. day. If I can’t provide value by progressing my assigned projects forward, I’m not doing a good job.

PMO Manager, Perficient Digital

Dates of Service: Jan 2018 – Aug 2019
Responsible for the successful management of all projects within the Digital Commerce practice. Manage team of 12 project managers. Oversee all PMO tools and process that support sales, strategy and delivery goals, aligning with corporate KPI’s as well as specific project objectives. Chair monthly project health meetings for all projects of yellow or red status. Recruit and train staff. Develop and implement PMO on-boarding processes. Manage the centralized project health dashboard to meet required needs of all global stakeholders.

What I loved about this role.

  • The PMO is at the center of a consulting and services company and must be agile, sales minded and customer focused that must strive for fast and efficient delivery all while adhering to PM standards around budget, scope and schedule.
  • The days are fast, have a lot of action and present complex problems that need creative solutions.
  • I have a great team of PM’s with varying levels of experience that come together regularly to share knowledge and lessons learned.
  • We don’t just have “managers” here… we all have projects (large and small) assigned to us. This can definitely be difficult to juggle at times but it keeps the saw sharp AND allows us (the managers) to eat our own dog food.

Accomplishments

  • Full migration from Project Insight (PI) to JIRA.
  • Implementing a Confluence Knowledge Hub to centralize all of the common standards all departments within delivery need to know about.
  • Establish a common understanding of business KPI’s and align the department processes to meet those standards.
  • Worked with different Delivery Teams to continually evolve our project processes.

Lead Program Manager, Perficient Digital

Dates of Service: May 2017 – Jan 2018
Responsible for the successful delivery of all Commerce projects within the team portfolio. Managed 5 project managers. Managed a $6MM team portfolio. Made contributions to department practices, recommending improvements as necessary. Tracked all projects within the team portfolio to established KPI’s.

Accomplishments

  • Managed a personal portfolio of $1MM.
  • Delivered all assigned projects within 5% of budget and within 2 weeks of planned delivery.
  • Contributed to recruitment and training of staff.
  • Implemented a standardized template for planning and tracking projects.
  • Supported all sales and delivery needs as necessary.

What I loved about this role.

  • I had an amazing manager / mentor that put me in the role. No matter what question I had, he was always there to answer it and help coach. Very grateful for this!
  • It was my first exposure to management. I had no previous work experience besides coaching youth hockey for 5 years. I’d always been a solid team member that helped out as needed and thought it was a good idea when my manager asked me if I wanted to take a shot at managing a team.
  • I still got to manage projects – $1MM portfolio – while managing 3-5 people at any given time. What a lesson in balance and focus!

Sr. Program Manager, Perficient Digital

Dates of Service: July 2015 -May 2017
Responsible for creating strategic roadmaps and the successful delivery of the projects within each roadmap.  Managed a $1.5MM (annual) project portfolio.  Developed and implemented project plans.  Provided oversight and reporting on the status of the established business, roadmap and program goals.

What I loved about this role.

  • Increased ownership and expectations. Being promoted to a Senior PM role took A LOT of effort to prove that I could take on anything and deliver successfully. It was a long road with a TON of lessons learned. I took the effort to achieve the promotion very seriously and with a ton of pride.

Program Manager, Zeon Solutions, LLC*

Dates of Service: July 2012 – July 2015
Support all sales and delivery efforts required to implement assigned projects.  Managed a $1MM portfolio.  Developed and implemented project plans. * Perficient purchased Zeon solutions in 2014

What I loved about this role.

  • Zeon was a young company that grew by leaps and bounds every year. This fast-paced environment was a breeding ground for new and challenging projects that were fully supported (from sales to delivery).
  • No lie – the very first meeting I had with the CEO I challenged him to give me a million dollar program, which he gave me with pleasure. I spent the next 12 months working 50 – 70 hours a week trying to wrestle the gorilla I had asked for. It was the hardest lesson I’ve ever had to learn but the most rewarding.
  • We were small and knew how to work hard and play even harder. The environment was very much like the “agency lifestyle” you see nowadays.

Project Manager, Niceware Int’l, LLC.

Dates of Service: Dec 2007 – July 2012
Supported the needs of the software business as well as managed all projects generated from the sales of professional services with software licensing.  Managed a $200K (annual) professional services portfolio.

Worked with customers to implemented strategic plans while using the NiceLabel Software. Developed and implemented applications using Visual Basic in conjunction with the NiceLabel Software Suite. Achieved Pragmatic Marketing Certification in 2010. Researched, developed and released LabelClinicCT in 2010.

What I loved about this role.

  • Oh, the hats! We were a small company with 9 people. I was the PM, the developer, the implementer, the co-marketing guy, the support guy, the pre-sales guy, the sales support guy and sometimes the order fulfillment guy.
  • Learning how to help Sales sell the services you are marketing is a professional lesson I wish everyone had to go through. Every presentation required preparation that included strategic empathy with an accusation audit specific to the company I was presenting to. This required R&D about the company as well as and preparation of demo materials that were specific to the problem this potential customer was trying to solve.
  • When you’re in the trenches trying to squeeze out an additional $10K of revenue for the month, you rally together, get creative and make it happen. These experiences forged friendships I still have today (10 years later).
  • When I developed and released LabelClinic CT, I was interviewed by a local magazine in a PUBLISHED ARTICLE (no lie, I have two copies of the magazine). It was an amazing experience.

2001 – 2007

Desktop Network Administrator at St. Luke’s Medical Center and Technical Support at Niceware International, LLC. Both were great roles to start my career in and helped me figure out the path I wanted to follow!
